Basic Prescribing Information

DESCRIPTION:  
Immuzinc Syrup and Drops contain ZINC – an essential mineral that stimulates the activities of many enzymes, promoting normal biochemical reactions in the body. Adequate daily supplements of ImmuZinc helps strengthen the immune system, supports normal growth and development, and helps prevent growth retardation in young adults, children and infants.

FORMULATION:   
ImmuZinc Syrup:
Each 5 mL (1 teaspoonful)contains:
Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate : 55 mg (Equivalent to 20 mg Elemental Zinc)

ImmuZinc Drops:
Each mL contains:
Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate : 27.5 mg (Equivalent to 10 mg Elemental Zinc)
 

PHARMACOKINETICS:

Zinc is incompletely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, and absorption is reduced in the presence of some dietary constituents such as phytates. Bioavailability of dietary zinc varies widely between different sources, but it is approximately 20 to 30%. Zinc is distributed throughout the body with the highest concentrations found in muscle, bones skin and prostatic fluids. It is primarily excreted in the feces, and regulation of fecal losses is important in zinc homoeostasis. Small amounts are lost in urine and perspiration.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:

The absorption of Zinc may be reduced by iron supplement, penicillamine, phosphorus-containing preparations and tetracyclines.

INDICATION:

For the prevention and treatment of Zinc deficiency characterized by growth retardation and defects of rapidly dividing tissues such as skin, the immune system, and the intestinal mucosa.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION

ImmuZinc Syrup:   
Children : 5 mL once daily or as prescribed by a physician.

ImmuZinc Drops:
1 mL once daily or as prescribed by a physician.
